Overview

Directly supervises the roughly 113 significant credit institutions in the euro area under the Single Supervisory Mechanism (SSM), which together hold ~82% of banking assets. Cooperates with national competent authorities on the ~2,000 less-significant institutions. Runs the SREP, sets Pillar 2 requirements, and coordinates crisis management with the SRB.
